As a child Alex grew up in Glasgow’s East End, but through family commitments travelled and lived around the world. A million miles from the East End Alex soaked up these new found cultures which undoubtedly broadened his horizons. He started to photograph everything, people he met, places he visited. When he moved back to Scotland, he knew exactly what he wanted to do.

His photography training began at Glasgow’s then College of Building and Printing. He was hungry to learn and after assisting a few photographers his eagerness paid off and he got his first big break at the age of 24 for Tatler magazine.

Alex’s connection with the subject goes far beyond photographer and sitter, his portraits convey an openness and natural feel, his ability to instantly put his subject at ease is evident throughout his work. In the industry Alex is known for his unwavering (purposeful), direct approach, which suits many of his high-profile subjects who enjoy his quick, straight to the point way of operating and of course his Glaswegian charm. This has led to countless editorial as well as commercial commissions for the likes of Boodles, Marks and Spencer and the Arab Bank.

Now living back in Scotland, Alex continues to pursue his passion for photography in all its many forms and is a part time lecturer at City of Glasgow College.

Alex’s work has appeared in publications such as Tatler, Vogue (British, Spanish, Russian and Australian), Arena, InStyle, Sunday and Saturday Times Magazines, Telegraph magazine amongst many many others.
